W3-0008: Techinantitla
This is a segment of a mural found within the apartment complex of Techinantitla at Teotihuacan. The mural is very similar to those found at Tepantitla and features a priest either sowing seeds or giving offerings to the ground. The headdress differs to the sowering priests of Tepantitla, which suggests that the different complexes of Teotihuacan had their own priesthood with their own cultural identities. The priest of Techinantitla has the rounded “Tlaloc” goggles on and his headdress features three obsidian mirrors and images of mountains. This is similar to that seen surrounding the jaguar blowing a conch shell in the Palace of the Jaguar.
