Disc of Death
This Classic Period (A.D. 200-650) sculpture is call the “Disco de la Muerte” or “Disc of Death”. It was uncovered in 1963 during excavations around the western side of the Plaza of the Sun at Teotihuacan.
Although predating the Aztecs by around 1000 years, the image is strikingly similar to that of Mictlantecuhtli, the Aztec God of Death.
