Stela C (West)
Despite looking like the work of a seasoned professional, Stela C was actually the first monument erected by 18 Rabbit, in 9.14.0.0.0 6 Ahau 13 Muwan – the 5th December, 711AD. On this side, 18 Rabbit looks west to the elders (the deceased) and takes on the personification of an old man – albeit still fleshed and alive. He has a rather remarkable full beard, something that is thought to have been biologically impossible for the natives of America (click here to read about the stelae of Copan).
