Mesoamerican Caritas Sonrientes

Cultura de Remojadas – Smiling Faces

These two statues are in a style known as the Caritas Sonrientes, meaning “Smiling Faces” or “Smiling Little Faces”, and are the most famous creations of the Remojadas Culture. These two are very typical of the style found across Central Veracruz and date from the Classic Era, between 300BC and 900AD.
