Tiwanaku: Gate of the Sun

This monolithic doorway stands isolated and seemingly without purpose at the north eastern corner of the Kalasasaya complex at Tiwanaku. The little man on the archway is believed to represent the Sun God, with rays of light emanating from his head and staffs of lightening in his hands.
