Serpent Head

This is a fairly typical building ornament from Copan and depicts a serpents head with it tongue hanging out. It is located in front of Temple 11 at the northern end of the West Plaza, and is thought to have been part of an enormous frieze that was ripped down after the kings death (click here to read more…)
